Thanksgiving

November 23, 2017: Today is the national holiday we here in America call Thanksgiving. I can't begin to express my thoughts about it. If this blog is long, my apologies to you as the reader.
Many many years ago the pilgrims who traveled here struggled to survive. The local Native Americans had been living here for years and years. They all put their differences aside for a time and helped each other out. There was so much the pilgrims learned from the Native Americans. They gathered one day and had a very large feast and celebrated. They were thankful for everything.
Today, we are a great nation. I am little ol' me. I have not done anything incredible. I will not be read about in books. However, I can still tell you that I'm very grateful for many things.
*Christ dying on the cross for the forgiveness of my sins *My family *My 2 best friends Frank and Autumn *My other friends that I will not call out by name *My job *My church family *My doctors *Technology to treat my health issues even though I still suffer from them but not as badly as I would without the medicine and other technology *The many years I was allowed to have all 4 of my grandparents because of the advancement in technology *My house I live in *My parents *My brother *My food *My clothes *The nature that surrounds me and that gives me peace of mind *Our pets we are allowed to own that help us in times of need *My essential oils that help relieve my health issues *My car *This great nation that I am free and don't have to worry about my safety near as much as other women do in other countries
I'm sure I could go on and on. I listen to my 2 little cousin's prayers when they say their prayer and they are always telling God thank you for this and that. They don't question God. They know not to go against authority and they know God has all authority. They may not be able to tell you this, but they know. I need to be more grateful for the things I have like they are. My bed, my "toys", my clothes, and etc. I need to be thankful for the day that God has granted me. For my life he has given me. I will admit, I have not had an easy life. However, my life is easier than some women in the 3rd world countries. I have food, a family who loves me, a house, police who will protect me if I'm being assaulted, friends who respect me. I need to be like my cousin's. Grateful. There is plenty of scripture that talks about being thankful.
1 Thessalonians 5:16‭-‬18 ESV
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
