My Best Friend
January 6, 2019: It has come to my attention a few times about the appearance of my friendship with my best friend. Yes, he is married. Yes, I spend a lot of alone time with him.
For years I've always wanted to hunt but I knew it didn't really appeal to dad much and so therefore I never had a dad to take me hunting. I've asked a past bf or two to take me and teach me but they never did. Then one day my friend and I were talking and I mentioned that I had always wanted to hunt and he said he could teach me and take me. I was excited. My parents were ok with it. His wife was ok with it. I was more than ok with it. I was excited! He was more than happy to teach and take me along. I knew I was safe with him if I got hurt since he's in the medical field. I've gotten to know his wife some in the past year and I have also gotten to know his youngest daughter who is a few years younger than myself as well.
I've learned something new. I learned to hunt. I got to go hunt with him and one of his buddies. I've been accepted into the tribe of hunters, lol! I have a new hobby that I love with a passion and even my therapist can see how happy hunting and shooting my crossbow makes me. Everyone has their hobbies that makes them happy. I finally found someone to take me under their wing and teach me. I had to take online classes. He pushed me and encouraged me that I could do it. He taught me how to use and carry my crossbow properly. I got frustrated with it at times but I finally got better than him at least that is what he said one time. However, he also said women usually are better than men. I also have my grandfather who was a sharpshooter in the Army, so it's in my dna to be good you can sorta say. I love my best friend and his wife and the daughter as well. I love that he got to teach me a new hobby/skill.
Today was the last day for deer season. No I didn't get a deer. Maybe next year. Then I get to learn how to process a deer. I guess one skill at a time. There was so much to learn and to do. Learn to shoot a bow. Clothes and gear to buy. Online courses. Practice, practice, practice. And then the actual hunting. Yesterday and today I went hunting on my own and it was so peaceful and fun. I cleared my head. I relaxed and hoped for the best.
Let me ask you something before you judge me. What big thing has your best friend taught you recently? How much time do you spend with your best friend? What do you and your best friend do together?
This is my blog. This is my voice.
